Quality & Sourcing

From Soil to Shelf: How We Protect Quality

Flavour is fragile. Heat, light, moisture, and time all work against a spice from the moment it's harvested. Our entire sourcing and packaging process is built around slowing that clock down, so what reaches your kitchen is as close as possible to how it tasted the day it was picked.

Step 1: Selective Harvesting

We work with growers who harvest at peak ripeness rather than by calendar date, which means higher oil content and stronger natural aroma in every pod, seed, and pepper.

Step 2: Traditional Drying

Most of our spices are sun- or shade-dried using traditional methods rather than fast industrial drying, which can strip delicate aromatic oils.

Step 3: Manual Cleaning & Sorting

Every batch is hand-sorted to remove stems, broken pieces, and foreign matter before it's approved for packing — no shortcuts, no mixed-in fillers.

Step 4: Quality Checks
  • Moisture content testing to prevent mould risk and extend shelf life.
  • Visual and aroma checks against a reference sample for every batch.
  • No irradiation, artificial colouring, or anti-caking additives — ever.
Step 5: Protective Packaging

Spices are sealed in light-blocking, air-resistant pouches immediately after final checks, then shipped in padded, moisture-safe outer packaging. Once your order arrives, we recommend transferring spices to an airtight jar away from direct sunlight to keep them fresh for months.

Looking Ahead

Our Commitment to Sustainability

  • Fair, pre-agreed pricing with partner farms, season after season.
  • Minimal, largely recyclable packaging materials.
  • Working toward fully compostable pouches as suitable materials become available at scale.
